Each year, we celebrate the exceptional youth that we serve with our Youth of the Year ceremony, sponsored by Publix Charities. Boys & Girls Clubs across the nation select outstanding individuals to represent their clubs, and each nominee presents before a panel of judges.
This prestigious event is an opportunity to recognize the dedication, leadership, and resilience of our Club members as they strive to make a difference in their community. We are so thrilled to have the opportunity to honor the amazing youth we serve who inspire us every day with their commitment to growth and community service. They are mentors, academic successes, and advocates that we are so proud to serve and who truly embody the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Polk County.
This year’s competition was an inspiring reflection of the great futures ahead for our teens. The event opened with remarks from Paris Gonzalez, 2025 Youth of the Year, who shared her journey and encouraged nominees to lead with confidence, purpose, and heart.
We were honored to welcome a distinguished panel of judges who generously made time in their busy schedules to invest in our youth: Steve Giordano, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Polk County; Stacey Campbell-Domineck, CEO of CareerSource Polk; and Rak Hovart, Service Advisor with Mahalak Auto Group. Their insight, encouragement, and commitment to youth development played an important role in making this experience meaningful for every participant.
Throughout the competition, nominees delivered powerful speeches and participated in interviews with our panel of judges that showcased their character, goals, and passion for giving back. These young leaders are mentors, academic achievers, and advocates who truly embody the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Polk County.
Youth of the Year
We are proud to announce that Llerli Isidro-Lucas of the Wogan S. Badcock, Jr. Club has earned the title of 2026 Youth of the Year, returning as champion after first winning the honor in 2024. From Club Kid to Teen Staff, Llerli continues to lead by example with her dedication to service and her passion for supporting others. She aspires to become a pediatric oncologist, hoping to serve as a steady and compassionate presence for patients and families during their most difficult moments.
As we celebrate this achievement, we also recognize the families, mentors, judges, and Club staff who support our youth every step of the way. Their guidance and encouragement help shape confident, capable leaders who are prepared to succeed.
The full 2026 Youth of the Year competition is available to watch here. We invite the community to experience these powerful stories and stay tuned as we continue to share more highlights from this special day.
Congratulations to our 2026 Youth of the Year nominees and to our returning champion!
