Youth from across Polk County are invited to cast a line and enjoy a day of outdoor fun at the Reel Leaders Youth Fishing Tournament on Saturday, March 28th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Hosted at the George Jenkins Memorial Club, this exciting event is open to all youth across the county.
This event is about confidence, character, and connection. Participants will spend the day outdoors enjoying friendly competition in a safe, structured setting surrounded by positive role models and peers. Whether participants are experienced with a rod and reel or casting a line for the very first time, this tournament offers an opportunity to learn, grow, and create lasting memories.
Throughout the day, youth will compete for prizes like Biggest Catch, Most Fish Caught, Sportsmanship, and Smallest Fish Caught.
Registration is open to all youth in Polk County. Boys & Girls Club members may participate free of charge, while non-members can register for a $5 entry fee. All participants must register online via the portal linked below, as well as check in on-site prior to the start of the tournament.
Please note that any participant who is 16 years of age or older must present a valid Florida fishing license. Licenses will be verified at registration. Youth who are required to have a license but do not present one will not be permitted to compete. Families are encouraged to secure licenses in advance to ensure a smooth check-in process.
To maintain a positive and safe experience for everyone, participants are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship, respect fellow anglers and staff, and follow all posted safety guidelines. All Florida Fish and Wildlife regulations will be observed, and additional rules regarding equipment, fishing boundaries, and judging criteria will be reviewed during the pre-tournament briefing. Club staff and volunteers will provide supervision throughout the event.
